President’s Message | August 2015

It’s back-to-school season. My children have returned to school: one in middle school and one in high school. The campus is bustling as students have arrived and classes have started. I know many of you also have children starting back to school this month, or maybe you even have a child going off to college. No matter the age, it is an exciting month full of change. While the summer seems to go too fast, as students and teachers we anticipate the first day of class with much enthusiasm. We revel in the fresh start that a new academic year brings – with new challenges, new goals, and new successes.

Fall is also one of my favorite times of the year. The temperatures start to drop, the leaves turn and the campus is alive with activities. With our live stream channel, you are able to be a part of the Warrior action

One special part of the fall collegiate experience is homecoming. This year, homecoming takes places October 9-11, and it’s going to be an action-packed weekend. We’re kicking things off with the Athletic Hall of Fame induction banquet and the fun continues all weekend with the Waldorf parade, an arts and craft fair, home football game, Taste of Waldorf dinner, a musical concert and concludes with a theatre showcase on Sunday.

We will be hosting the inaugural Online Student & Alumni luncheon on Saturday before the homecoming game, and I hope that you and your family can join us. As an online student, you probably have never lived on campus or even been to Forest City, but Waldorf is now a part of your life’s legacy and is very much your home.

Our online students and alumni are an integral part of Waldorf’s identity and history. I’d like to personally invite you to campus to help us celebrate the100th anniversary of the Alma Mater and all that Waldorf College means to you.

You are part of a network of more than 30,000 Waldorf alumni. Homecoming can help you connect with alumni colleagues in your area for friendship as well as professional and industry advice.

As always, thank you for choosing Waldorf and for being a Warrior. I hope to see many of you at homecoming.
